The Volvo 850 played a crucial role in renewing Volvo's image in the 1990s. Before the introduction of the 850, Volvo was mainly seen as a manufacturer of conservative cars with a boxy design. With the arrival of the 850, Volvo decided to modernize this image by designing a sporty and contemporary car. Despite its squared-off design, the 850 had good aerodynamics and was the first Volvo to feature front-wheel drive and four airbags. Volvo invested significantly in developing this car, which led to a reliable and timeless model, produced between 1991 and 1997. Both the sedan and station wagon versions have become popular youngtimers.
The 850 came standard with a five-cylinder engine, which provided the distinctive sound known among enthusiasts as "The Roll." To underline the sporty character of the car, Volvo took part in the British Touring Car Championship, where even a station wagon was used. In 1995, Volvo released the top model of the 850 series: the 850 T5-R. This model, developed in collaboration with Porsche, was available in flag yellow, jet black and dark green. The 2.3-litre turbocharged engine produced 240bhp thanks to modifications to the electronics and turbo, resulting in acceleration from 0-100km/h in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h. The T5-R, with its understated looks, is often described as a 'sleeper'. In 1996, the 850R was introduced, followed by the V70R in 1997-1998.
The car offered here, with registration number SF-380-G, was purchased in Sweden in 2018 and registered in the Netherlands. The car features a manual gearbox and produces the recognizable sporty sound that many car enthusiasts enjoy. The car is equipped with all options, including black leather/Alcantara seats, a sunroof and original 17" Titan wheels.
Although the car has been well maintained, it shows some signs of wear that are appropriate for a 30-year-old car. The car has been stored for the past three years.

After handing over the indemnity or a copy, you or the transporter can take the car with you.
It is also possible to deliver the car you won. Within the Netherlands (with the exception of the Wadden Islands) this costs €165 excl. VAT. VAT. After you have paid for the car, the transport will be scheduled and the car will be delivered to you on average after 5 working days from the collection day. We can also take care of deliveries outside the Netherlands, for questions or quotations you can contact transport@automotive-auctions.nl.
