About this lot
Teun Voeten is an award-winning war photographer and author based in New York and Brussels. Originally, he studied cultural anthropology and philosophy at Leiden University. For the past 25 years, he has reported on conflicts worldwide for publications such as Vanity Fair and Newsweek and organisations such as the UNHCR and the ICRC. He has written books about the underground homeless in New York, the war in Sierra Leone and the drug violence in Mexico. Voeten also organizes exhibitions, gives workshops and regularly teaches at prestigious academic institutions. He also began making video documentaries. In September 2018, he obtained his PhD with a dissertation on Mexican drug violence.
