About this lot
Michel François van Overbeeke (born 19 July 1942 in The Hague) is a Dutch glass artist, printmaker, ceramist and painter. Van Overbeeke was educated at the Amsterdamsche Grafische School, the graphic art school. Initially, he was mainly active as a graphic artist, draughtsman and painter, later other disciplines were added. He creates monumental works in ceramics, marble, plastic and glass. He was commissioned to make a stained-glass window for the St. Bavo Church in Haarlem and chandeliers for Paviljoen Welgelegen, the provincial government building of North Holland. [2] In the windows he designed for the Barbara Church in Vreeswijk, he combined glass etchings with stained glass and enamel spraying. They were carried out in the workshop of Glasbewerking Brabant. He joined the Professional Association of Visual Artists[3] and exhibited at the Frans Hals Museum (1971), the Stedelijk Museum Zwolle (1997) and the Stedelijk Museum Kampen (2016), among others.
