About this lot
Hennie van der Vegt (1953) attended the Minerva Academy in Groningen from 1974-1979, lives in Amsterdam and has his studios in Ruigoord and Amsterdam. From 1979 onwards his work was regularly exhibited in the Netherlands and abroad. In addition to painting portraits, such as the portrait of Johan Cruijff that hangs in the Arena, commissioned by the Municipality of Amsterdam, also the 'Ruigoord Variations', portraits of people who in one way or another play a role in Ruigoord's theatre, still lifes, animals and nudes. Increasingly, he is regarded at home and abroad as "the" painter of flowers, blossoms and foliage. Van der Vegt's approach has given a new impulse to the Flower Still Lifes genre. It has acquired an unprecedented vitality and dynamism. Solo presentations a.o.; Singer Museum, Noordbrabants Museum, Amsterdam Museum. Group presentations a.o.; Drents Museum, Museum het Valkhof, Museum Mohlmann.
