Geert Vrijdag

Education: Friday he studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Tilburg and at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven. Vrijdag has also worked in a.o. Veldhoven and Bergeijk. Geert Vrijdag's work is reminiscent of Cobra in its abstraction and abundance of colours, but still has its own style. Friday worked without a preconceived idea, apart from figuration. The process of creation was very important to him. He said that a basic meditative attitude allows him to work intuitively. Something emerges from that "emptiness"; something unknown that wants to be known. Geert Vrijdag "noted" the encounter with that unknown in form, colour, movement and material. He tried to eliminate routine and tradition from the process in order to move beyond the "observable" world. Exhibitions and awards:Since 1988 he has exhibited several times throughout the Netherlands and his work was shown at the European Fine Art Fair in Maastricht.
