About this lot

The Nivola espresso machine is named after the legendary Italian racing driver Tazio Nuvolari (nicknamed Nivola) who gained fame in the thirties with his streamlined Ferrari, Maserati and Bugatti. Other fast vehicles from this streamlining period, including Loewy's train from 1937, have also served as a source of inspiration for the designer. The Italian family business Elektra (since 1947) uses state-of-the-art technology in combination with striking materials such as bakelite, plexiglass and cast aluminium. For the casting of the housing, Elektra works together with Ferrari's parent company, while the Elektra emblem is also manufactured in the same workshop as the prancing horses of that famous brand. The Nivola is both an espresso machine and an art object and therefore involves all the senses when enjoying an unadulterated Italian espresso or cappuccino
