Ana Nunez

Ana Nunez: Born in Matosinhos, Portugal, 1993. Works and lives in The Hague, the Netherlands. My paintings, drawings and engravings are included in private and corporate collections in the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal and the United States of America. In her latest project, Sacred Forests, Nunez focuses on natural elements that are sustained by spiritual beliefs and practices of people living in their environment. In 2017, Anna lived and worked with the inhabitants of the Boé region (Guinea-Bissau, West Africa) to deepen her knowledge of animism and the preservation of spiritual forests. She has interpreted these experiences with paint on canvas. Through her paintings, she gives voice to their holistic way of life and the challenges that arise within it. With the Sacred Forests project, Nunez has been able to help create wonderful results, such as the preservation of animistic forests in the Boé, and thus also of the biodiversity and age-old beliefs and rituals of people who live in this area.
