About this lot

Remarks:
Signs of wear/damage and wear all around by age/mileage.

Extremely rare Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 VELOCISSIMA. The Velocissima was made exclusively in the year 1979 with a limited and very minimal edition. Exact production numbers are not known, but vary from a few dozen to about 300 units. There are probably only a few left worldwide.

The Velocissima is characterized by a 2.0 liter engine as standard, is only available in black and has plastic fender flares that continue into the lower spoiler at the front. 'Also factory-fitted with a spoiler on the boot lid and a spoiler at the top of the boot lid with the "Velocissima"" inscribed. The alfa is also a bit higher on its wheels than the standard versions and has spotlights with protective bars. In addition, it comes standard with Ronal rims.

A unique piece of automotive history. What also makes this Alfa special is its original untinkered condition. This alfa was bought new in 1979 in the USA and was reported to have driven until the end of the 80s. After that, this car ended up in a collection of several Italian cars. Original only 51000 miles! The special thing is also its extremely original and untinkered condition. Probably not a 2nd in the world to be found!

As far as can be judged, it still has its original paint. This paint is of course not new, but certainly presentable and can be taken to a higher level with translation. The interior is still usable and in original condition except for the seats.

Condition of engine and other technical condition The car has been stationary for a long time and after arrival in the Netherlands the engine was made to run. The engine runs well but the injection system still needs to be adjusted. Sometimes the car starts less well at cold start. This does not play a role when the engine is warm. Engine and gearbox are leak-free. Some mechanical noises from the clutch. Brakes must be checked before use on public roads.

Overall condition of the bodywork and paintwork The body is in an exceptionally original condition. As far as it seems, it has never been welded, even the inner screens are still completely original with the spot welds still clearly visible. The parafan under the windshield, the connection front fenders to the parafan is rust-free and untinkered, rare. The battery box is hard, only the spare wheel well has rust damage due to stagnant water. The inside of the tailgate also shows some rust. This is relatively easy to repair without really affecting the originality. The paintwork has patina due to its age, some dents and damage here and there or aging due to age.

Interior and upholstery As can be seen in the photos, the chairs are affected by the climate and need to be replaced or repaired. Door trim is old but still in relatively neat condition. Carpet is in good condition. Headliner has some stains here and there but is otherwise not torn. Dashboard is in good condition, center console has a crack. Radio buttons are missing. It contains a rare and precious Blaupunkt ACR Berlin. Operation unknown. Alfa is equipped with factory aiconditioning but the compressor has been disassembled (present with the car).

The Alfa was sold new in the US and comes with a USA Registration.

Frequently asked questions

How do I place a bid?

You can easily participate in the auction through the website. Log in as usual and navigate to the lot of your choice. On the right side of the screen, you will find 'Bid' and 'Auto Bid.' Click on 'How does this work' for more information about automatic bidding.

Click on 'Bid' to see the total amount of your bid, including the buyer's premium and VAT. After accepting the general terms and user conditions by checking the box, click 'Confirm' to place the bid.

What is reserve price?

A reserve price is the (non-visible!) minimum amount that a seller has set for a lot and is the lowest price for which the seller is willing to sell. The highest bidder who meets or exceeds this price wins.

If this price is not met, you can still have a chance to win. The closer your bid is to the reserve price, the greater your chance of winning this lot.

The lot is awarded to the highest bidder whose bid is equal to - or higher than - the reserve price at the end of the auction. If the highest bid has met the reserve price or more, the lot is sold immediately for this price.

What costs are added to my bid?

In addition to your bid, additional costs are incurred in the form of a buyer's premium percentage and VAT. These percentages vary depending on the country. VAT is applied to both your bid and the buyer's premium. Before confirming your bid, you will always receive an overview detailing all relevant amounts associated with your bid, including the final total. This way, you are fully informed about the total amount of your bid.

What is an auto bid versus a manual bid?

An auto bid is a way for you to automatically participate in a bidding process. You enter an amount you are willing to pay for an item and then automatic bids are placed for you up to your maximum bid - but only if necessary. Your maximum bid is hidden from other bidders during the auction. Placed auto bids are indicated by an "A" after the placed bid in the bid history. You need to update a manual bid every time someone outbids you. Keep in mind that an auto bid in the same level as a later manual bid will always lead the auction - because it was placed first.
