Ford Anglia Sportsman (LHD)

>> Such an Anglia was Ford's predecessor to the Escort. Built since 1939, the model had four generations and became a true household name, especially in England. For example, in the movie Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets, a blue Anglia is used to save Harry (the car is enchanted, and can therefore fly). Its fourth and final generation came in 1959, was designated the 'Anglia 105E' and broke sales records for Ford. Compared to its soberly designed predecessor, it was clearly influenced by America, including covered headlights and tail fins. Not only was its body completely new, but also the 997cc four-cylinder 'Kent' engine (with 40 HP) under the hood. For model year 1963, the range was expanded with the Anglia Super (or '123E'). It had 1,198cc with 53 hp, and was outwardly recognizable by a stripe in contrasting color on the side. Then there was the Sportsman version, which strangely enough was not sold in England. Immediately recognizable by the rear mounted spare wheel, and its white-walled tires. _ _ _ This continental (original) Sportsman is in well-maintained condition, has been completely restored and also prepared for Oldtimer Rallies (including sports steering wheel, sports springs and a 'tuned' engine of about 80 HP)! You can admire and inspect these yourself; but only during a specific reserved viewing moment (in the Noorderkempen of Belgium). ___So; this lot shows only moderate signs of wear, especially given the year of construction (or possibly form your own opinion during a 'Viewing Day') and is also equipped with 1 SET of keys, plus extensive history (including the purchase invoice from the 1st owner and a photo report of the restoration). _ _ _ You have to book such a viewing, and that is in the first instance by e-mail to info@ HaspengouwClassics.eu
