2000 MAN L27 Truck

Lot 6 / Voithofer: Brand: MAN; Type: L 27; Description: Year of construction: 2000; Chassis number: WMAL27 00 86 G 110 800; Color: blue; Extras: Roll cage sports seats, special vehicle prototype; History: The MAN L90 Rally was developed in 2000 in the test department of MAN in Munich, MAN Maurer, SAG Alu Lend and Magna Powetrain in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Peter Reif. (Prof. Dr. Peter Reif, was the designer and driver of the Dakar winning truck in 1997.) The truck was part of KTM's first Dakar victory in the motorcycle classification in 2001 by Fabrizio Meioni, with Prof. Peter Reif as driver and Günter Pichlbauer as co-driver driving the truck. Several stage victories and a sensational third place in the overall standings were achieved. The truck has been in the collection since 2002 and was prepared annually for a potential Dakar start, but it was not used in a race. The truck is still FIA homologated as a racing car, has an Austrian individual permit as a special vehicle and is eligible to compete in the Dakar Classic.
